     Wuchuan mooncakes, which began in the Southern Song Dynasty, have a long history, profound heritage and distinctive features, and are welcomed by the masses. In order to guide the development of the industry, Wuchuan mooncake industry association was established in 2009. Under the leadership of the Municipal Party Committee and the Municipal Government, and under the specific guidance of the Municipal Federation of Industry and Commerce, Wuchuan Mooncake Industry Association gives full play to its role as a bridge, fully performs its functions, strengthens the industry self-discipline, accurately serves the industry and its members, and promotes the healthy and orderly development of the industry. In the past ten years, under the guidance of the association, the industry has achieved rapid development. In September 2010, Wuchuan was awarded the title of "the hometown of Chinese moon cake" by the China Cuisine Association. In June 2013, the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine of the People's Republic of China (AQSIQ) approved the implementation of national geographical indication protection for "Wuchuan mooncake". In November 2013, "Wuchuan mooncake making skills" was included in the "intangible cultural heritage of Guangdong Province" project; In 2011, 2012 and 2013, the association successfully hosted the China (Wuchuan) Mooncake Culture Festival for three consecutive years. In December 2014, "Wuchuan Moon Cake" was recommended by the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine as the "100+100" Geographical Indented Products Mutual Recognition and Guaranty Products between China and Europe. In November 2017, "Wuchuan Moon Cake" was recognized as "Guangdong Famous, Special and Excellent New Agricultural Products" by the Department of Agriculture of Guangdong Province. In July 2020, "Wuchuan Moon Cake" was included in the first batch of "100+100" Geographical Indications Protection List under the China-EU Agreement. In March 2020, the Intellectual Property Office of the CPC Central Committee announced that the Agreement on the Protection and Cooperation of Geographical Indications between the Government of the People's Republic of China and the European Union (EU) officially came into force, marking that Wuchuan mooncakes, which were included in the first batch of the "100+100" Agreement on the Protection of Geographical Indications between China and the EU, had a "passport" to go abroad and could officially enter the international market.

     After years of cultivation, the industry has emerged more than 10 famous brands such as Jinjiu, Fuhai, Nanyue, Yuda, Jinhaigang, etc., and won more than 40 "national name" honors such as "Chinese gold moon cake" and "Top 10 moon cake quality brands in China". By the end of 2020, there will be 205 mooncake enterprises in Wuchuan, 15 large-scale enterprises, 15,000 employees in the industry, with an annual output of 11,000 tons and an output value of 1.5 billion yuan. The mooncake industry has become the pillar industry of Wuchuan.

      The achievements made by Wuchuan Mooncake Industry Association in recent years have been affirmed by the higher authorities. In March 2018, it was rated as "Demonstration Spot of Provincial Excellent Chamber of Commerce" and "Four Good Chamber of Commerce" by Guangdong Federation of Industry and Commerce in 2017. In March 2019, it was awarded as "Four Good Chambers of Commerce" in 2018 by Zhanjiang Federation of Industry and Commerce. From 2018 to 2020, the company has been awarded "Four Good Chamber of Commerce" in Wuchuan for three consecutive years by Wuchuan Federation of Industry and Commerce (General Chamber of Commerce). Zheng Rikang, the president of the association, and He Dejun, the secretary general of the association were respectively awarded as "President of Wuchuan Excellent Business Association" and "Secretary General of the Excellent Chamber of Commerce Association" for three consecutive years from 2018 to 2020.
